Human Foods That Are Actually Healthy for Dogs
Updated: Aug 9
Not everything off your plate is off-limits. Some human food is actually a solid choice for your dog, in the right amount, and it's worth knowing which.
The Produce Aisle Wins
Plain carrots, green beans, and blueberries are all crunchy, low-calorie hits most dogs genuinely love. Plain canned pumpkin, not the pie filling, is a favorite for digestion. Grapes and raisins are the one hard no here. Even a small amount can cause kidney failure, and there's no safe dose.
Meat, Kept Simple
Plain cooked chicken, beef, or turkey, no garlic, no onion, no seasoning, is an easy yes. It's basically the whole idea behind single-ingredient treats: real meat and nothing riding along with it that your dog doesn't need.
The Real Rule
Keep it small. These are extras, not meals. Cook meat all the way through and skip the seasoning shelf entirely, since things like garlic and onion powder barely register to us but can genuinely hurt a dog. When you're not sure about something, a quick call to your vet beats guessing every time.
That same one-ingredient thinking is exactly why we build our treats the way we do.
